Having lit up the 1960s music scene with their own, highly popular brand of rock & roll, Jefferson Airplane regrouped and renamed themselves Jefferson Starship (and later, Starship) in the 1980s. Adding an addictive pop ingredient to their already potent brew paid off handsomely for the band, and opened their sound up to a whole new audience.
