As he opens up to her, he finds strength and soon becomes resolute that he won't let Val's HIV status ruin their marriage. With a new sense of purpose, Eric sets about wooing Val. Val is wary when he suggests they go upstairs, not wanting to rush him. Eric assures her that he is ready.
