But is this Gnephoek the best place for 10,000 new houses, in a deep polder with weak soil? The province and water boards warn: if you build here, society will incur high costs in the future. But the municipality and the government are persevering and want the houses to be built. What interests do they have in going against the advice? In addition to the housing shortage, land purchases appear to be one of the arguments.
